Iranian short ‘Maranjab’ grabs US fest award

Iranian short title ‘Maranjab’ has garnered the Recognition Award at the 11th edition of the IndieFEST Film Awards in the US.

A synopsis for the short film reads “after Leila’s death, people liked each other in a strange way.”

The short title is directed by Mostafa Mehraban and its main actors are Salar Khamseh, Nazanin Sahamizadeh, Niloufar Darbandi, Sara Lahout, Emad Mottaqian and Shahab Dastamouz.

The IndieFEST “discovers and honors the achievements of filmmakers who produce high quality films and new media”, according to an online film submission platform.

The event’s primary goal is to serve filmmakers. It “strives to give talented directors, producers, actors, creative teams and new media creators the positive exposure and credibility they deserve”.

The 11th IndieFEST Film Awards was held on May 5, 2020.
